What to know about osteoarthritis (OA) pain

OA is the most common chronic condition of the joints. It occurs when cartilage between joints breaks down and leads to pain, stiffness, and swelling. OA can affect many joints, but occurs most often in knees, hips, lower back and neck, small joints of the fingers and the bases of the thumb and big toe.1,2

Arthritis is a form of chronic pain, and it can last 3 months or longer.2

Physical activity can help, though, with activities like walking, biking, or swimming comprising low-impact exercise options that are arthritis appropriate.3
