A 12-week, randomized, double-blind, multicenter, vehicle-controlled, parallel-group study of diclofenac sodium gel 1% for the relief of signs and symptoms in 492 adults aged ≥35 years with osteoarthritis of the knee. Following the initial visit, patients returned for follow-up assessments at Weeks 1, 4, 8, and 12.¹
Definition of WOMAC

WOMAC is a pain measurement index and was used to capture the data in the prior Pain and Physical Function graphs. WOMAC was calculated after patients answered 24 questions on a 0 to 4 Likert scale. Sums of responses to subsets of questions yield indices for pain (scale: 0 to 20), physical function (scale: 0 to 68), and stiffness (scale: 0 to 8). For the contralateral knee, patients answered 4 questions (abridged WOMAC), Q2 and Q4 in the pain scale, and Q14 and Q24 in the physical function scale.¹
