Product information – Otrivine Extra Dual Relief

Otrivine Extra Dual Relief 0.5 mg/ml + 0.6 mg/ml nasal spray, solution (xylometazoline hydrochloride, ipratropium bromide).

Indications: Symptomatic treatment of nasal congestion and rhinorrhea in connection with common colds.

Dosage: Adults: 1 puff in each nostril, up to 3 times daily, with at least 6 hours between doses. Maximum 3 applications daily into each nostril. Do not exceed the stated dose. Do not use for longer than 7 days. Geriatrics: Limited experience of use in patients above 70 years of age.

Contraindications: Children and adolescents under 18 years. Known hypersensitivity to xylometazoline hydrochloride, ipratropium bromide, any of the excipients, atropine or atropine-like substances. Patients with glaucoma, rhinitis sicca, atrophic rhinitis or following trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy or surgery exposing the dura mater.

Warnings and precautions: Use with caution in people with: hypertension, cardiovascular disease, long QT syndrome, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, prostatic hypertrophy, bladder stenosis, pheochromocytoma, on monoamine oxidase inhibitors treatment or tri/tetra cyclic antidepressants (or have been on either within the last two weeks), on beta 2-agonist treatment, cystic fibrosis. Use with caution in patients predisposed to angle closure glaucoma, epistaxis or paralytic ileus. Immediate hypersensitivity including urticaria, angioedema and rash may occur. Caution in people sensitive to adrenergic substances. Avoid contact with eyes.

Common: dysgeusia, rhinalgia, nasal congestion, headache, nasal dryness, nasal discomfort, nausea, application site burn, dizziness, throat irritation, dry throat, dry mouth. Uncommon: insomnia, parosmia, tremor, eye irritation, dry eye, palpitations, tachycardia, nasal ulcer, sneezing, dyspepsia, fatigue, corneal oedema, cough.

Otrivine Congestion Relief 0.1% Nasal Spray. (Xylometazoline Hydrochloride). Indications: For the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion, perennial and allergic rhinitis (including hay fever) and sinusitis.

Dosage: Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 1 spray into each nostril, up to 3 times daily as needed. Do not exceed 3 applications daily into each nostril. Do not use in children under 12.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy or surgery exposing the dura mater, narrow-angle glaucoma, rhinitis sicca or atrophic rhinitis, phaeochromocytoma, prostatic hypertrophy, patients on MAOI treatment or who have received them in the last two weeks. Do not use in children under 12 years.

Warnings and precautions: Do not take for more than seven consecutive days. Otrivine Child Nasal Drops (Xylometazoline Hydrochloride). Indications: For the relief of nasal congestion associated with the common cold, perennial, allergic rhinitis (including hay fever) and sinusitis.

Dosage: Children between 6 and 12 years: 1 or 2 drops, in each nostril up to 2 times daily. Not to be used for more than 5 days without the advice of a doctor. Not more than 2 doses should be given in any 24 hours.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Otrivine or any of the excipients. Concomitant use of other sympathomimetic decongestants. Cardiovascular disease including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, phaeochromocytoma, prostatic hypertrophy, hyperthyroidism, closed angle glaucoma or trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy or nasal surgery exposing the dura mater, inflammation of the skin and/or mucosa of the nasal vestibule, rhinitis sicca or atrophic rhinitis. Patients on MAOI treatment or who have received them in the last two weeks, beta-blockers. Use in children under 6 years.

Warnings and precautions: Do not take for more than five consecutive days. Use with caution in patients showing a strong reaction to sympathomimetic agents, with occlusive vascular disease and those taking tri and tetra-cyclic antidepressant treatment. Product Information – Otricaps Blocked Nose and Sinusitis Relief

Otricaps Blocked Nose and Sinusitis Relief 300 mg/ 25 mg/ 5 mg Capsules, hard. (paracetamol, caffein, phenylephrine hydrochloride). Indication: Symptomatic relief of symptoms of influenza, feverishness, chills and colds including feverish colds. The symptomatic relief of nasal congestion and difficult breathing arising from this, sinusitis and its associated pain, acute nasal catarrh.

Dosage: Adults (including elderly) and children aged 16 years and over: 2 capsules every 4 to 6 hours as required, but no more than 12 capsules in any 24 hours. Do not take continuously for more than 7 days without medical advice. Not recommended for children under the age of 16 years.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. Concomitant use of other sympathomimetic decongestants. Phaeochromocytoma. Closed angle glaucoma. Hepatic or severe renal impairment, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and heart disease. Patients taking tricyclic antidepressants, or beta blocking drugs and those who are taking or who have taken within the last two weeks MAOIs.

Warnings and precautions: Do not take with other paracetamol-containing products, other decongestants or cold and flu medicines and other sympathomimetics. Medical advice should be sought before using this product in patients with an enlargement of the prostate gland, glutathione depleted states due to metabolic deficiencies, occlusive vascular disease and cardiovascular disease. Excessive intake of caffeine should be avoided. Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.

Myadriasis, acute angle closure glaucoma, bronchospasm, hepatic dysfunction, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, anxiety, irritability, tachycardia, palpitations, restlessness, excitability, headache, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, increased blood pressure, gastrointestinal disturbances, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dysuria and urinary retention.
