Meet the speaker
Dr. William Zempsky
Dr. William Zempsky is a globally recognized expert in pediatric pain management, with extensive NIH-funded research on pain in youth with conditions like sickle cell disease, obesity, fibromyalgia, neurofibromatosis, and postoperative pain, including the impact of pain-related stigma. He co-edited the Oxford Textbook of Pediatric Pain and has earned honors such as the Donaghue Investigator Award and the Mayday Pain and Society Fellowship. Under his leadership, his division was named a Center of Clinical Excellence by the American Pain Society and achieved ChildKind certification. He has chaired the Pediatric Special Interest Group of the American Pain Society, served on Connecticut’s Physicians Medical Marijuana Board, and received the M1 Mentoring Grant from the University of Connecticut for his commitment to clinical research and mentorship.
