Sensodyne Repair & Protect Real-World Evidence Study: Quality of Life with Dentin Hypersensitivity
A 24-week study involving adults with self-reported dentin hypersensitivity
In this 24-week real-world study, a 0.454% stannous fluoride anti-sensitivity toothpaste significantly improved quality of life and reduced pain in people with dentin hypersensitivity (sensitive teeth). Participants were highly satisfied with the toothpaste and tolerated it well.
The study was decentralized, open-label and single-arm, without a control group, with 536 adults enrolled and 460 completing.1 It measured oral health-related quality of life (OHrQoL), pain, satisfaction and oral hygiene habits.
What the study found:
- Oral health-related quality of life: statistically significant improvements (p<0.0001) in the Dentin Hypersensitivity Experience Questionnaire (DHEQ-48) total score and each domain score from Week 4, continuing through Week 24.
- Pain: a statistically significant reduction (p<0.0001) in Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) scores from Week 1, continuing through Week 24.*
- Satisfaction and tolerability: a mean satisfaction score of 7.8 on an 11-point scale. 92.2% said they would adopt the product as their regular toothpaste. About 1% of participants experienced treatment-related adverse events.
