Certain patient groups benefit greatly from multimodal analgesia, but many are not always effectively identified and managed accordingly. This section will focus on practical approaches to identifying these patients including those with moderate-to-severe acute pain and mixed inflammatory–nociceptive pain presentations, with considerations given to patient selection, dosing strategies, safety, comorbidities and polypharmacy to optimize outcomes.

Prof Mohamed Baraka
Prof Mohamed Baraka is the Vice President of Batterjee Medical College in Dubai, and is a Clinical Pharmacy academic, researcher and healthcare innovation leader. He has over 20 years of experience spanning clinical pharmacy practice, healthcare education, digital health, and the use of AI in healthcare.
Prof Baraka has held multiple academic leadership positions across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Prof Baraka will discuss the clinical evidence and guideline recommendations that support the use of multimodal strategies in suitable acute pain settings.
Dr Zoubir Boudi
Dr Zoubir Boudi is a French Board-certified Emergency Medicine Consultant and Head of the Emergency Department at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital, Dubai. He currently serves as the Chair of Academic Affairs, Director of the Life Support Centre, and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Sharjah.
He is an active researcher and international speaker, who is recognized for his contributions to emergency medicine, patient safety, quality improvement and healthcare innovation.
Dr Zoubir Boudi will discuss practical approaches to identifying patients who could benefit from multimodal analgesia including those with moderate-to-severe acute pain and mixed inflammatory–nociceptive pain presentations.
