Meet the speakers
Dr Ian M Paul
Dr Ian M Paul is the University Professor of Paediatrics and Public Health Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He is also Chief of the Division of Academic General Paediatrics and Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs in the Department of Paediatrics at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital in Pennsylvania, USA.
He is an internationally recognised expert on the paediatric treatment of the common cold, fever, and pain. In recognition of his contributions to paediatric research, he was awarded the Director’s Award from the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau in 2019 and in 2022 he received the prestigious Research Award from the Academic Pediatric Association.
Dr Ian M Paul will discuss the efficacy of ibuprofen and paracetamol treatments in paediatric populations with practical guidance for parents and healthcare professionals.
Prof Patrice Forget
Prof Patrice Forget is the Clinical Chair in Anaesthesia at the University of Aberdeen (UK), and Honorary Consultant at the NHS Grampian.
He is involved in clinical research, focusing mainly on pain, perioperative epidemiology and clinical pharmacology, with more than 250 articles, letters or editorials published over the last twenty years.
He is also the Chair of the PANDOS (Pain AND Opioids after Surgery) European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Research Group.
Prof Patrice Forget will discuss actionable strategies for improving pain management in aging populations, including over-the-counter medication use and healthcare professional education.
