Full information can be found in the Summary of Product Characteristics.Corsodyl Freshmint 0.2% w/v Mouthwash, Corsodyl Aniseed 0.2% w/v Mouthwash, Corsodyl 1% w/w Dental Gel (Chlorhexidine digluconate)Indications: Plaque inhibition; aids treatment and prevention of gingivitis; maintenance of oral hygiene; to promote gingival healing post periodontal surgery or treatment; treatment of aphthous ulceration and oral candida infections. Dental Gel only: As part of a caries preventative programme. Dosage & Administration: For oral use only. For adults and children 12 years and over. Children under 12 years should not use except on healthcare professional advice only. Mouthwashes: Use 10 ml and rinse for 1 minute twice daily or pre-surgery. Spit out after use. For dental stomatitis soak clean dentures for 15 minutes twice daily. Dental Gel: Brush teeth with 1 inch gel for 1 minute on a moistened toothbrush, once or twice daily. Spit out excess and do not rinse after application. Ulcers, oral candidal infections: Use an alternative method of delivery to facilitate application of the gel to affected areas for 1 minute, once or twice daily. Prevention of caries as part of a regimen: apply nightly for 5 minutes in close fitting tray. Denture stomatitis: brush dentures with 2.5 cm gel for 1 minute on a moistened toothbrush, once or twice daily. Duration of use: gingivitis treatment – about 1 month is advisable; ulcers and oral candida – continued for 48 hours after clinical resolution. Dental gel only: Prevention of caries - treatment should be continued for up to 14 days, along with other preventative measures such as brushing the teeth twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and decreasing refined carbohydrate intake. See SPC for further details. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or any of the excipients. Precautions: Keep out of eyes and ears, do not swallow, incompatible with anionic agents usually present in conventional toothpastes, use these before Corsodyl (rinsing the mouth between applications) or at a different time of day. In case of soreness, swelling or irritation of the mouth, cease use and consult healthcare professional. Stop using and seek immediate medical help if swelling or difficulty breathing experienced. Seek medical advice if disturbances of taste sensation and a numbness, tingling or burning sensation of tongue persist. Superficial discolouration of tongue, teeth and tooth-coloured restorations, may occur and are usually reversible. Contains macrogoglycerol hydroxystearate which may cause skin reactions. Aniseed Mouthwash only: Aniseed flavour contains allergens which may cause allergic reactions. See SPC for full details. Side effects: Very common: Tongue coated. Common: Dry mouth, aguesia/dysguesia, glossodynia, oral paraesthesia/hypoaesthesia. Isolated reports: Discolouration of teeth and tongue, mouth irritation, desquamation /oral mucosa swelling, parotid swelling, hypersensitivity, anaphylaxis. Legal category: Mouthwashes: GSL.
