Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly – for mild osteoarthritis pain

For osteoarthritis of the knees and fingers, relieving mild osteoarthritis pain and reducing inflammation for up to 12 hours.1

Contains diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), that not only provides pain relief but also treats inflammation – a root cause of pain.1

Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly has an easy-to-open cap that can be opened simply by pushing up with the palm or using a benchtop.

Diclofenac penetrates through the skin2

With topical application, diclofenac concentrates at the site of application,3 relieving pain and inflammation for up to 12 hours.1

Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly is specially formulated to help the anti-inflammatory ingredient get through the skin. It contains a permeation enhancer for increased delivery of diclofenac through the skin. Skin penetration is up to 3x greater compared with Voltaren Emulgel.4*

For knee osteoarthritis in patients with no comorbidities, the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) Guidelines ‘strongly recommend’ topical NSAIDs.8

NICE Guidelines recommend to consider topical NSAIDs for pain relief in addition to core treatments for people with knee or hand osteoarthritis and to consider topical NSAIDs and/or paracetamol ahead of oral NSAIDs, COX-2 inhibitors or opioids.9

Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly has an easy-to-open cap that can be opened simply by pushing up with the palm or using a benchtop.

Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly product details

  • 1 g of Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly contains 23.2 mg of diclofenac diethylamine, which corresponds to 20 mg of diclofenac sodium.

    Also contains excipients (butylhydroxytoluene, carbomer, cocoyl caprylocaprate, diethylamine, isopropyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, macrogol cetostearyl ether, oleyl alcohol, propylene glycol, perfume eucalyptus sting, purified water).

  • For cutaneous use only. Patients should consult their doctor if the condition does not improve or worsens within 7 days of starting treatment.

    The duration of treatment depends on the indication and clinical response. The product should not be used for more than 14 days for soft-tissue injuries or soft-tissue rheumatism, or 21 days for non-serious arthritis pain, unless recommended by a doctor.

    For adults and adolescents aged 12 and over

    Voltaren Osteo Gel 12 Hourly provides lasting pain relief of up to 12 hours (applied two times daily - morning and evening). It should be rubbed gently into the skin at the affected area. The amount needed depends on the size of the painful area: 2 g to 4 g (cherry to walnut sized) is sufficient to treat an area of about 400–800 cm. After application, the hands should be washed, unless they are the site being treated.
