Be proud to be a dental professional.

The impact of oral health goes far beyond the mouth.

As defined by the FDI World Dental Federation, it encompasses the ability to speak, smile, taste, chew, and express emotions confidently and without discomfort.1 As a dental professional, your role is vital in not only giving patients a smile to be proud of but also supporting their overall wellbeing.

At Haleon, we believe that mouths should be a source of joy, not pain.

The connection between oral health and overall health is undeniable, with poor oral health linked to a wide range of health issues that can significantly impact overall well-being.2 As our understanding of oral health deepens, your vital role as a dental professional, and dentistry overall, is evolving too.

A role which is important to the health of not millions, but billions of people worldwide. While oral health problems are largely preventable, their prevalence remains high with an estimated 3.5 billion people globally experiencing oral disease.3

“No other disease group affects humanity across the life cycle and across all countries in the way that oral diseases do.” – World Health Organization.4

We understand that it may be hard to see all the good your work is doing when your focus is on the day-to-day tasks of being a dental professional. From managing a heavy workload to particularly challenging cases, plus running a practice in-between. Then when you’re not treating patients, you’re staying on top your continued professional development too. Altogether, a great responsibility is placed at the feet of dental professionals all around the world.

Haleon strives to improve global oral health.

At Haleon we’re committed to improving global oral health and supporting you to do the same.

To celebrate the immeasurable impact that you have on patients’ lives, we’ve partnered with the FDI World Dental Federation for the third year as a global sponsor of World Oral Health Day, which is on March 20th 2025.

Our on-going partnership with the FDI grants us the privilege of supporting some amazing projects, aimed at improving oral health world wide:

  • Partially Dentate Patients Project: This initiative empowers practitioners to understand and address the specific needs of partially dentate patients. By providing dental professionals and patients with the necessary tools, the project aims to improve patient outcomes and raise global awareness about available treatment options.
  • Toothbrush Guidelines: In collaboration with the FDI, we have established a consensus on toothbrushing recommendations. These guidelines offer practical advice on individual preventive strategies to promote better oral health.
  • Oral Health Observatory: This project aims to collect standardised oral health data globally, evaluate the needs of patients and dental practitioners, optimise service provision, and use the data to identify trends and influence policymakers. The ultimate goal is to encourage investment in oral disease prevention and improve oral health outcomes.

We have also been involved in other impactful initiatives aimed at improving oral health outcomes globally:

  • Our Partnership with SmileTrain: Since 2018, we have partnered with SmileTrain to enhance oral healthcare access for individuals with cleft palates. Together, we have assisted over 23,000 families and trained nearly 4,000 dental professionals to perform transformative dental surgeries.5
  • Health Inclusivity Survey: To address significant inequities in oral health experiences worldwide, Haleon has supported Economist Impact in creating the world’s first Health Inclusivity Index. This index highlights the state of health inclusivity globally and identifies ways to improve it.6
  • Spotlight on Tooth Sensitivity: Dentine hypersensitivity (DH) and Erosive tooth wear (ETW) are common conditions that significantly impact patients' daily lives. To support dental professionals in managing these conditions, we have created a webinar featuring a global panel. The panel discusses the prevalence of DH and ETW, their impact on patients, barriers to diagnosis, and provides advice on patient management.
