Gingival Health & Pregnancy: What we need to know

Professor Hugo Grancho Pinto, Specialist Periodontist and Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Manchester, will present “Gingival Health & Pregnancy: What We Need to Know.” Drawing on his extensive academic and clinical experience in periodontology and implant dentistry, Prof. Pinto will discuss the physiological changes during pregnancy that impact gingival health, associated risks, and best-practice approaches for managing and supporting patients during this important stage.
Complementing this session, Nishern Govender, Head of Medical and Scientific Affairs for South and Sub-Saharan Africa, will present “Evidence-Based Prevention and Treatment of Gingivitis: The Role of Sodium Bicarbonate Toothpaste.” With expertise in translating clinical research into practical applications, Nishern will provide insights into the latest scientific evidence supporting preventive and therapeutic strategies, highlighting the role of sodium bicarbonate toothpaste in improving gingival outcomes.
Together, these sessions will provide a comprehensive, evidence-based perspective on gingival health—from understanding unique patient considerations such as pregnancy, to implementing effective, guideline-aligned preventive care in everyday practice.
